WHO IS… JAY?
He’s an experienced media professional with over 16 years in television and journalism. My career has taken me through a range of roles—from producing and reporting to leading newsrooms and managing high-level productions. I bring a deep understanding of storytelling across platforms, combined with strong leadership, editorial judgment, and a passion for impactful content.
Currently, I serve as Senior Producer at UCTV, where I oversee end-to-end content creation and manage production budgets. Prior to this, I was Executive Producer at KUSI-TV, leading a 23-person newsroom and delivering three hours of nightly news. My background also includes producing roles at KUSI-TV, North County News, and Lucia Capital Group, where I focused on live broadcasts and marketing-driven media. Early in my career, I reported on San Diego sports for Bleacher Report, sharpening my on-camera and field reporting skills.
In addition to my full-time roles, I’ve worked as a freelance on-camera talent and video producer since 2009, creating news and sports segments from concept to completion—including scripting, editing, and motion graphics. I’ve also produced the Kyoto Prize Symposium since 2021, overseeing logistics and AV production for this prestigious multi-day event.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Media Studies from Arizona State University. I’m proficient in AP Style writing, video editing, and live production workflows, with a strong interest in politics, community affairs, journalism, and sports.
Whether behind the camera or in front of it, I thrive on connecting stories with audiences in ways that inform, inspire, and engage.
